A year without a visa

Citizenship
Ten years of lawful residence, language, history and legal basics, employment or property or a business in Georgia — the standard route. Five years and marriage to a citizen — the simplified route. A presidential decree takes effect only after renouncing the previous citizenship, and Georgia itself recognises sole citizenship with two exceptions.

Residence permit through marriage
From 1 September 2026, the spouse of a Georgian citizen no longer receives permanent residence immediately: a separate spouse residence permit has been introduced — one year, then two-year renewals, capped at five years in total — and applications are reviewed by a three-agency commission with the right to conduct interviews and home visits.

Documents on the ground
Prices are in Georgian lari; the dollar figure is for reference. Government fees are paid separately and directly. 18% VAT does not apply to these services: it only applies once turnover exceeds 100,000 GEL within a 12-month period. Government fees are separate unless the line states otherwise. Payment procedure depends on the country and service; the account and contract go where they are needed. If it doesn’t work via on our side — we will refund the money; no one can guarantee approval. A legal consultation — 150 GEL · $56, it is applied toward the cost of the service.
What else is needed in Georgia
