Visas and residence permits Hong Kong’s
We cover each basis separately: who qualifies, how much money is needed, what documents are required and how long to wait. 3 detailed breakdowns below.
Grounds Hong Kong’s
Start with whichever is closest to your situation. If you are not sure — we’ll work through it together.
Seven years
The right of residence in Hong Kong for foreign nationals: seven consecutive years of ordinary residence immediately before the application, a declaration that Hong Kong has become the place of permanent residence, what the law understands by ordinary residence, and which periods do not count toward that term at all.
- 7 years · continuous ordinary residence
- directly · before the submission date
Top Talent Pass
Hong Kong’s Top Talent Pass Scheme in brief: one income category for earnings from HK$2.5 million, two categories based on a degree from a qualifying university, an initial period of 36 or 24 months, a quota of 10,000 for the third category, and a top stream with renewal for a straight six years.
- 2.5 million HK$ · annual income under category A
- 36 / 24 months · first term: category A / B and C
QMAS
The only Hong Kong scheme that requires no job offer: the applicant meets four preliminary conditions and passes one of two tests — a general test with 12 criteria or an achievement test with two. Passing the general test grants 36 months under a ’3+2’ scheme; passing the achievement test grants eight years outright. After seven years of ordinary continuous residence, the right to permanent residence becomes available.
- without a job offer · no employer needed
- 12 and 2 · criteria in two tests

Visa and residence permit
Documents on the ground
Prices are in US dollars and are all-inclusive — nothing is added on top. Hong Kong government fees are paid separately and directly to the authority: visa or extension — 230 HKD (approx. $30), initial HKID card — free. There is no VAT in Hong Kong. Government fees are separate unless the line states otherwise. Payment procedure depends on the country and service; the account and contract go where they are needed. If it doesn’t work via on our side — we will refund the money; no one can guarantee approval. A legal consultation — 100 $, it is applied toward the cost of the service.
What else is needed in Hong Kong
The status is half the move. The other half is housing, a bank account, a school, doctor and documents on the ground. That is handled by the relevant destination sections network, and you won’t have to explain your situation again.
